Canada is the world's second-largest country by area, occupying most of northern North America. Extending from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and northward into the Arctic Ocean, Canada shares land borders with the United States to the south and to the northwest.

Inhabited first by Aboriginal peoples, Canada was founded as a union of British colonies, some of which had earlier been French colonies. Canada peacefully obtained independence from the United Kingdom in a process spanning from 1867 to 1982.

Canada is a federal constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, consisting of ten provinces and three territories, and defines itself as a bilingual and multicultural nation; both English and French are official languages. A technologically advanced and industrialized nation, its diversified economy relies heavily on an abundance of natural resources and on trade, particularly with the United States, with which Canada has had a long and complex relationship.

Canadian culture has also been greatly influenced by more recent immigration of people from all over the world. Many Canadians value multiculturalism, indeed some see Canadian culture as being inherently multicultural.

Mademoiselle, voulez-vous danser
la bastringue, la bastringue?
Mademoiselle, voulez-vous danser?
La bastringue va commencer.

Oui, Monsieur, je veux bien danser
la bastringue, la bastringue.
Oui, Monsieur, je veux bien danser
C'est pour vous accompagner.

Mademoiselle, il faut nous arrêter
la bastringue, la bastringue.
Mademoiselle, il faut nous arrêter
Vous allez vous fatiguer!

Non, Monsieur, je sais bien danser
la bastringue, la bastringue.
Non, Monsieur, je sais bien danser.
Je suis prête à r'commencer!

Mademoiselle, je n'peux plus danser,
la bastringue, la bastringue.
Mademoiselle, je n'peux plus danser,
car j'en ai des cors aux pieds!

Mademoiselle, would you like to dance
the bastringue, the bastringue?
Mademoiselle, would you like to dance?
The bastringue is about to start.

Yes, Monsieur, I would like to dance
the bastringue, the bastringue.
Yes, Monsieur, I would like to dance
In order to accompany you.

Mademoiselle, we must stop
the bastringue, the bastringue.
Mademoiselle, we must stop.
You will tire yourself!

No, Monsieur, I know how to dance
the bastringue, the bastringue.
No, Monsieur, I know how to dance.
I'm ready to start again!

Mademoiselle, I can't dance any more
the bastringue, the bastringue.
Mademoiselle, I can't dance any more,
because I have corns on my feet!
