Sweden is one of the largest countries in Europe, with great diversity in its nature and climate. Its distinctive yellow and blue flat is one of the national emblems that reflect centuries of history between Sweden and its Nordic neighbours.  Sweden is a sparsely populated country, characterized by its long coastline, extensive forests and numerous lakes. It is one of the world's northernmost countries. In terms of surface area it is comparable to Spain, Thailand or the American state of California.

A variety of folk music and folk dancing are still popular in Sweden. Some of the folk instruments of Sweden include fiddle, accordion and the nychelharpa. The national costume of Swedes is still worn on special occasions. The men's national costume consists of embroidered waistcoats, breeches and felt hats. The women's costume consists of a flared skirt, brightly coloured apron, a waistcoat and bonnets. The clothes are often embroidered with floral designs.
